For the exam, you must study:

3. Pronouns after prepositions, p. 88
4. The present tense of "querer," p. 90
5. "Querer" with infinitives, p. 90
6. El vocabulario, p. 94-95
7. ¿Con que' frecuencia ...?, (siempre, a veces, nunca), p. 96-97
8. Present tense of -AR verbs, p. 98
9. Present tense of Ir and Jugar, p. 100
10. Weather expressions, p. 102

There will be a listening, reading, and writing portion on the test.

Computer Lab, el 21 de noviembre



Today we will be studying on Quizlet.

Please make sure to click on "classes" and then click "Español 1/2."

You should study all of the flashcard sets, however, the only flashcard sets that qualify for extra points are:
  • ¿Con quién? 
  • ¿Qué te gusta hacer? 
  • Me gusta...
  • Querer
  • Los fines de semana me gusta...
If you would like, you may also use the Jeopardy template from yesterday to review. 

The two students with the top scores on any of the flashcard sets above (one for Space Race and one for Scatter) will receive three extra points towards Friday's test. 

Also, the composition topic for the exam has somewhat changed. Be prepared to:
  1. describe yourself
  2. talk about what you like
  3. talk about what you do not like
  4. talk about what you like to do 
  5. talk about what you do not like to do
  6. talk about what you like to do on the weekends
The composition must be at least 12-15 sentences.

- ¿Qué te gusta hacer?
- AR verbs, p. 98

There will be listening, reading, and writing sections on this test. I will tell everyone the composition topic in class during the week.

As a result of not being able to be with my dear students on Friday, Oct. 31, there will be two quizzes this week. One on Wednesday, Oct. 29 and the next on Thursday, Oct. 30.

For the quiz on Wednesday, Oct. 29 you need to know:
1.Adjectives - p. 44-45, Quizlet (also know how to change them to agree in gender and number)
2. Nouns and definite articles - p. 60
3. Ser - p. 24

The format for the quiz on Wednesday, Oct. 29 will be:
1.  Listening section
2. Fill in the blank
3. Short answer

For the quiz on Thursday, Oct. 30 you will need to know:
1. Question words - p. 52
2. Me gusta/Me gustan, the verb gustar, and vocabulary - p. 56 and 57, p. 62
3. Ser

The format of the quiz on Thursday, Oct. 30 will be:

1. Short answer
2. Comprehension/Reading
3. Composition - Be prepared to talk about yourself - what your name is, where you are from, what you like and do not like. You will have to write a seven sentence composition in Spanish based on this information.

Miércoles, el 8 de octubre, hay una pruebita.

Necesitan saber como conjugar el verbo "ser."

Please do not over think this - just know your "ser" conjugations. It will take all of five minutes, maximum. This is an easy 100 for everybody!

I will give you the subject pronouns (yo, tú, él, ella, usted, nosotros, vosotros, ustedes, ellos/ellas and you will have to write the correct form of "ser."

"Ser" is a very verb important verb in Spanish, so it is imperative that you all know it!

Online Edition of ¡Exprésate!

Below you will find the link to the online edition of our Spanish book - ¡Exprésate! (Spanish 1)


Once you click on the link, enter the username and password.

Once you are logged in, click on the first book that you see (the red edition of ¡Exprésate!). Usually, assignments will be from the Vocabulario y gramática section. Then you will find chapters and page numbers. 

This may be accessed from home or at school. When homework is assigned in the textbook, it is expected that you print or hand write your homework and bring it in to class the next day. Studies have proven that hand writing is better for language processing for most language learners, but whether you handwrite or type your homework is up to you.

2. Sign up for Quizlet: quizlet.com/LaGuardiaAL. Please sign up for Español 1/2. This website will be very helpful to you throughout the year in studying for quizzes and tests. If you are feeling overambitious, you may also download the app. I promise, it's super fun!


3. Please sign-up for and follow this blog. Please use a valid email. I will be communicating with you through this website, and it is your responsibility to check this website daily for homework and other assignments.


4. Get proper materials for class: binder, looseleaf, and folder. Please have these materials by Monday, September 8, 2014. You must bring these items and your textbook to class every day.

In this class, we will learn the Spanish language and about different countries where Spanish is spoken.

Please take note that Quizlet is a very important website in this class. On Quizlet, you will be able to study vocabulary that will be on quizzes and tests throughout the school year. The link to our Quizlet is quizlet.com/LaGuardiaAL. Please sign up for Español 1/2.

Another website that we will be using in this class is conjuguemos.com. On this website, you will be able to practice verb conjugations (both regular and irregular verbs).

And of course, this website (that you are on right now) is important as well. This will be a means to communicate with you throughout the year. I will post major projects on this website, as well as what will be on exams and finals.
